LAGOS - The Nigerian Nobel prize winner Wole Soyinka has been placed under surveillance by the military authorities, a human rights group said. Soyinka has regularly spoken out against the military's refusal to transfer power to a civilian government. The Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) said Soyinka was under surveillance at his residence in his home town of Abeokuta in the state of Ogun. AFP
