London - Pirates hijacked a Cypriot vessel in the Pacific with a sugar cargo worth $4m ($2.6m). The 30 armed attackers seized the Anna Sierra as it headed to Manila from Bangkok with 12,000 tons of bagged sugar. The pirates locked up the master and crew and then set them adrift in dinghies. Reuter
