DUSHANBE (AP) - The acting President of Tajikistan, Akbarshah Iskandarov, citing a 'complicated political situation' in the republic, declared a state of emergency yesterday and clamped a dusk-to-dawn curfew on the capital, Dushanbe.

The measures will remain in effect until 1 January 1993 and the curfew will be enforced between 10pm and 5am, the decree said. Strikes in Dushanbe were banned and the activity of political parties suspended under the state of emergency regulations.
