The deputy prime minister of Tajikistan was shot and killed by two unidentified assassins in the capital, AP reports from Dushanbe. Moensho Nazarshoyev, 65, was walking in the courtyard of his apartment building at 10pm on Thursday when gunmen sprayed him with bullets from a car, killing him on the spot. The prosecutor's office blamed supporters of the Islamic Party of Revival, holed up in mountains outside Dushanbe. The government said it believed the murder was an attempt to sabotage coming talks between the government and the opposition.
