Using a toilet plunger to revive people who suffer cardiac arrest may be more effective than cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), according to a study in St Paul, Minnesota, Reuter reports from Chicago.
The study found that the technique - discovered accidentally - saved significantly more victims reached within 10 minutes by emergency personnel (59 per cent) than standard CPR (33 per cent).
