Tapie investigated for tax fraud
The Paris prosecutor opened a tax fraud investigation into the politician and football boss Bernard Tapie following an official complaint about his luxury yacht, Reuter reports from Paris. Mr Tapie is suspected of claiming improper tax benefits by registering his 240ft yacht Phocea as a commercial vessel, even though he used it exclusively for his personal pleasure. Mr Tapie, a self-made millionaire, is standing for the European Parliament in next month's election.
