President F W de Klerk said he would soon meet the ANC leader, Nelson Mandela, to discuss a threatened strike by black teachers and protests by students, AP reports from Johannesburg. The Democratic Teachers Union, representing 80,000 mostly black teachers, voted to strike next Monday if wage demands were not met.
