Three Israeli hikers killed near Jericho

WADI QELT, WEST BANK - Palestinian gunmen shot dead three Israeli hikers yesterday in a popular tourist site near the occupied West Bank town of Jericho, Israeli security sources said. The assailants stole a car and escaped towards the West Bank town of Ramallah with the army in pursuit. Arab guerrillas riding jet skis yesterday tried to launch an attack against Israel, but were blasted out of the water by four Israeli gunboats off Lebanon's southern coast, UN officers said. The officers, who monitored the clash from an observation tower, said they saw the Israelis pulling the bodies of two guerrillas out of the water. Reuter
