An employee of the Fort Knox military base, where US gold reserves are kept, shot dead three civilian workers and wounded two others before turning the gun on himself, Reuter reports from Fort Knox, Kentucky.
Arthur Hill of Ratcliff, Kentucky, a 53-year-old Vietnam War veteran, walked into the Fort Knox training support centre and began shooting. He was found later in a bathroom at a Veterans' Administration hospital in Louisville; he had shot himself in the mouth.
