London - Three Sudanese diplomats kicked out of Britain to comply with United Nations sanctions against Khartoum for allegedly sponsoring terrorism must leave within one month. The Foreign Office added that one of the three is among the highest ranking members of the embassy. All other Sudanese diplomats are banned from travelling outside London without permission.

Britain and the United States - which took similar action last week - have been especially angered by Khartoum's refusal to extradite three people suspected of attempting to assassinate the Egyptian President, Hosni Mubarak, in Addis Ababa last year.

Germany has stopped issuing visas to Sudanese officials; the rest of the EU member states are expected to announce their response shortly.
