Tibet's exiled spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, has threatened to quit the independence struggle in protest against the violence used by pro-democracy activists, Reuter reports from New Delhi. Police in Lhasa fired tear gas at Tibetan protesters last week to quell the worst unrest there since 1989, when China put the city under martial law.
