DILI, EAST TIMOR (AFP) - An Indonesian court in the former Portuguese colony of East Timor yesterday adjourned the trial of the pro-independence leader Xanana Gusmao after declaring a prosecution witness insane.
Saturnino da Costa Belo entered the courtroom, saluted, raised his fist and yelled: 'Long live East Timor]' and 'Long live independence]' He also went towards the defendant, who faces charges including rebellion and possession of weapons, and tried to shake hands with him.
