Togo coup death

The commander of Togo's presidential guard has died in a Paris hospital of wounds received in an apparent attempt against President Gnassingbe Eyadema, AP reports from Paris. The Togolese government, in a communique issued in Paris, announced that Lieutenant-Colonel Gandi Akpo died of bullet wounds he suffered in an attack on Mr Eyadema's palace on 25 March.
