A MUSLIM militant suspected of murdering a British tourist last October was shot dead by police yesterday in the southern city of Assiut, hours after a nail bomb killed seven people in Cairo. The interior ministry said the militant, Sarwat el-Sayyid Mohamed, was killed in a gun battle with police in the Assuit railway station, 200 miles south of Cairo, after being stopped for questioning. One policeman was killed and three injured. - Reuter
