Gunmen shot dead a Rwandan government official and mobs killed the leader of a hardline Hutu party, Reuter reports from Kigali. The Public Works Minister, Felicien Gatabazi, and two bodyguards were shot in Kigali late on Monday. Angry mobs from Mr Gatabazi's southern home area of Mbazi took revenge by killing Martin Bucyana, the chairman of the Coalition for the Defence of the Republic, and his driver. The violence has provoked fears of fresh tribal bloodshed between Hutus and Tutsis.
