ROME (Reuter) - Galvanised by the killing of Paolo Borsellino, a top anti-Mafia judge, the Italian government decided yesterday to send 7,000 troops to Sicily in the biggest use of the armed forces against organised crime on the island in 40 years.
'They will back up the state police and the Carabinieri,' Nicola Mancino, the Interior Minister, said. The troops will have the power to arrested any mafiosi they find.
