Turkish Cypriot forces yesterday shot dead a Greek Cypriot who had crossed into the north of the divided island. He was the fourth person to die along the buffer zone since August.

The killing came hours before the expected arrival of Sir David Hannay, Britain's special representative on the Cyprus problem, who is making a further attempt to breach the stalemate in the 22-year dispute. Reuter - Nicosia
