Gunmen shot and killed two displaced Kenyans in a raid on a church compound south of the Indian Ocean city of Mombasa yesterday, taking the toll from 10 days of ethnic attacks in the region to 42 people dead.
On a positive note for Kenya, International Monetary Fund officials said a delegation would arrive in Nairobi on Monday to discuss with President Daniel arap Moi a date for resuming negotiations on a $205m aid package halted last month. The President arrived in Mombasa by helicopter yesterday on his first visit to the coast since the start of the violence. Reuters - Likoni
