Ukraine gets nuclear warning

Russia warned Ukraine yesterday against declaring itself a nuclear state, saying such a move could damage international disarmament, Reuter reports from Moscow.

A Foreign Ministry statement, laced with sarcasm, denounced a Ukrainian parliamentary decision to proclaim nuclear weapons on its territory as national property. It warned of further accidents like the 1986 Chernobyl disaster.
