NEW YORK (Reuter) - Pablo Escobar, the fugitive Colombian drug lord, was indicted here on Thursday on charges that he bombed a Colombian airliner in 1989, killing more than 100 people.

Authorities said the 14-count indictment against Escobar and the alleged assassin, Dandeny Munoz Mosquera, charged them with killing the passengers and crew on Avianca Airlines Flight 203 in November 1989. While US officials admitted it was unlikely they could capture Escobar, who escaped from prison in Colombia last month, they said they would seek the death penalty against Mr Munoz Mosquera, who is already in US custody. An attorney for Mr Munoz Mosquera entered an innocent plea on behalf of his client on Thursday.
