The United States and South Korea hailed a UN Security Council statement calling on North Korea to submit to nuclear inspections but the two allies delayed setting a date for war games on the peninsula, Reuter reports from Washington. William Perry, the US Defense Secretary, said the Security Council's call on North Korea to allow inspections of its nuclear sites showed diplomacy was working.
