Bangkok (AFP) - Cambodia's Prince Norodom Sihanouk said yesterday that the Khmer Rouge faction might have to be excluded from next year's elections if current efforts to bring them back into the peace process fail.

But Prince Sihanouk said even if the Khmer Rouge did not participate in the elections, they would retain membership of the country's Supreme National Council, an interim reconciliation body, and could rejoin the political mainstream at any time. He said they had been respecting the ceasefire for the past two months.
