Walesa appoints finance minister

President Lech Walesa of Poland appointed a former Communist, Grzegorz Kolodko, as finance minister in the left-wing government, Reuter reports from Warsaw. An economist, Mr Kolodko is also deputy prime minister in the coalition of the ex-Communist Democratic Left Alliance and the Polish Peasant Party.
