Whale sanctuary proposal
The US and Britain floated a proposal for a whale sanctuary yesterday aimed at ensuring that the International Whaling Commission approves an Antarctic haven this week, Reuter reports from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The draft proposal, while less ambitious than the original French plan for a sanctuary, would set aside a larger area than any of the compromise proposals introduced this week.
