WHO chief wins
GENEVA (AP) - Hiroshi Nakajima, Japanese director-general of the World Health Organisation was re-elected to a second five- year term, defeating an Algerian candidate, Mohamed Abdelmoumene, backed by the US and the EC. Critics said Japan was using threats and vote-buying to keep Mr Nakajima in office, allegations Tokyo denied.
