Brasilia (Reuter) - A witness in the scandal plaguing President Fernando Collor de Mello's government told Congress yesterday that a former aide planned a cover-up to protect the Brazilian President from corruption charges.
Sandra Fernandes de Oliveira, who worked at a Sao Paulo office where she said the cover-up was fabricated, said the main purpose of the plot was to 'derail the work' of a congressional investigation into charges of corruption against the government.
