SNOWDROPS at Hodsock Priory Gardens, Blyth, near Worksop, Nottinghamshire, will be on show today and tomorrow, beside the half-mile woodland trail laid out by Sir Andrew and Lady Buchanan. Other plants to look out for include garrya, the winter-flowering cherry, cyclamen, hellebores, aconites and Clematis armandii. Gardens open from 10am till dusk; admission pounds 1.80.

Look for snowdrops, too, at Anglesea Abbey, the National Trust's garden at Lode, near Cambridge, where there is a new version named after the head gardener, Richard Ayres. Open today and tomorrow 12 noon-4pm; admission pounds 2.50.
