Gardening Cuttings: Harrogate spring

THE FAMOUS spring flower show at Harrogate opens next Thursday in the Valley Gardens in the centre of town and continues until 24 April.

Burncoose and Southdown are bringing azaleas from Cornwall, Potterton and Martin will be showing alpines from their Lincolnshire nursery, Steven Bailey is displaying his carnations. Brian Goodey, who put up a spectacular display of cacti last year, is returning with another wide-ranging collection of plants, and Johnnie Walker will be exhibiting more than 400 different varieties of daffodil.

The show is open Thur-Sat 9.30am-6pm, Sun 9.30am-4.30pm. Admission Thur pounds 8.50, Fri pounds 7, Sat pounds 7.50, Sun pounds 7.
