THE HARDY Plant Society, which was set up more than 30 years ago for gardeners with a special interest in herbaceous plants, is publishing a series of booklets on the most popular families, to encourage new gardeners to experiment with new varieties. It has already produced booklets on hardy geraniums and hostas. Hostas, by Diana Grenfell, is available (pounds 2.50 includes post and packing) from Pam Adams, Little Orchard, Great Comberton, Pershore, Worcestershire WR10 3DP.
