BUYING flowers in bud rather than full-blown seems sensible. Not if they are pot-grown winter chrysanthemums, says Horticulture Research International. Problems arise from the too-rapid change in light levels between the glasshouse in which plants have been raised and the gloomy winter sitting-rooms for which they are destined. In winter, you are better off with potted chrysanthemums coming into full bloom.
