The Men Behaving Badly star Martin Clunes cuddled his cocker spaniels Mary Elizabeth and Tina Audrey, while former All Saint Nicole Appleton posed with two chihuahuas, Godzilla and Michael Jackson, two great Danes Dudley and Honey, and her English mastiff, Bear.

The Footballer Jamie Redknapp is pictured with his bulldogs Winston and Bella and comic Julian Clary poses with cross-breed, pink-collared, whippet Valerie.

The calendar, which went on sale yesterday, will raise money for the British veterinary charity PDSA's 42 PetAid hospitals.

Lord Lichfield, who took the pictures, said he was "thrilled" to be working on the calendar.

"I thoroughly enjoyed meeting the celebrities and their pets. My own dog is a very important part of my life and I am pleased to help raise funds for PDSA so that it can continue to provide free veterinary care for sick and injured pets."

PDSA spokeswoman Liza Randall said: "This calendar is a great example of the special bond between people and their pets. It's clear just how much the celebrities value their pets' companionship. They were charming throughout the shoot - even though the spotlight was clearly on their furry friends."
