TED, the annual conference for innovations in technology, entertainment and design takes place next week, with many of the talks being streamed on the web. Also coming up: DesignBoost in Stockholm, the New York Toy Fair, and Ron Arad's first major solo exhibition in the UK.

Design Walk Athens

Athens, Greece

The fourth Design Walk around the neighborhood of the Acropolis will take participants from design shops to hip bars, discovering the work of cutting-edge designers. This year, London-based agency doubledecker has commissioned 13 graphic artists to create special designs for the event.

TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design. TED is a non-profit organization that aims to spread ideas in the interests of global knowledge and inspiration. The annual conference is an invite-only event that showcases ideas and projects from the most creative minds in the world. TED2010 will be spread across four days and will explore developments in new technologies, creative design, future concepts and economic innovation taking place across the world. The theme of TED 2010 is "What the World Needs Now, TED2010." Many of the talks will be broadcast on the internet for free.

I.M. Pei to receive British Royal Gold Medal

The 92-year-old Chinese-American architect I M Pei, best-known for his Louvre pyramid, joins the ranks of Norman Foster, Le Corbusier and Mies van der Rohe by winning the prestigious RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) prize. He will receive the medal from England's Queen Elizabeth II at the official award ceremony.

Norman Foster at Berlin Film Festival

The world-renowned British architect will join French producer Marin Karmitz, Austrian architect Wolf D. Prix, German film-maker Heinz Emigholz and Deyan Sudjic, director of London's Design Museum, to discuss the future of cinema during the festival. The talks can be watched live online.

New York Toy Fair

With 100,000 products with more than 7,000 never-before-seen, over 1200 exhibitors and 1000 global media representatives, the Toy Fair is where the industry gathers. It also gives the latest updates on safety legislation and names the best of the crop at the tenth annual Toy of the Year (TOTY) awards on February 13.

Ron Arad: Restless

The designer's first major UK exhibition at the Barbican Gallery will span three decades of his work. Due to the importance of movement in Arad's designs, visitors will be encouraged to experience the works hands-on.
