Shortly after Louis Vuitton announced its luxury bag auction for a good cause (with artists such as Damien Hirst and Annie Leibovitz creating one-off leather items), Danish design brand Vipp says it will host a similar event with an equally impressive line-up of designers at the end of this month.

For its 70th anniversary, Vipp has thought up a collaboration with some of the world's leading figures in fashion, art, and design to create one-of-a-kinds of the bin it is known for and auction them off to benefit Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS (DIFFA).

Among the 35 participating artists are the fashion designers Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren and Oscar de la Renta as well as singer Yoko Ono, photographer Nigel Barker and topmodel Helena Christensen, among many others.

Their re-looked Vipp bins will go under the hammer October 28 at the New York flagship store of design retailer Design Within Reach.

The first VIPP bin was created by brand founder Holger Nielsen in 1939.
