We're loving... leather armchairs
A brown leather armchair, formerly owned by Yves St Laurent, sold for £19.4m at an auction in Paris last week. If that seems somewhat extravagant for a piece of furniture, you'll be glad to know that there are more affordable options. From www.mydeco.com comes the longhorn, £938, with faux buffalo horn arms; the Copeland Easy Chair (£799 reduced from £995), which mixes vintage leather with a modern steel frame, and the Tulsa leather armchair, £495, which has a removable headrest and a reclining back.
We're hating... VCRs
VCRs are obsolete and DVDs are heading the way of the dodo too. The future is personal video recorders – boxes which contain hard-drives, eliminating the need for discs or tapes. The Humax Foxsat-HDR, which came top in a recent survey by Which?, is the first PVR designed to work in conjunction with satellite TV, and you'll receive over 80 digital channels as part of your purchase. It has a 320GB hard-drive, offering up to 160 hours' worth of recording. It also has an electronic programme guide. Available from John Lewis for £292.
We're buying... clocks
As the clocks go forward at the end of the month signalling the start of British Summer Time, what better way to mark the change of seasons than buying a quirky new clock, such as this picture-frame design, £37.95, from Dwell (0845 675 9090; www.dwell.co.uk)? The store's fun and practical range also includes a blackboard clock, £29.95, and a retro clock with a calendar for £89, with the time, day, month and year displayed on slats which flip over like an automated cricket scoreboard.
