STEVE YOUNG threw for 303 yards and three touchdowns and ran for another score as the San Francisco 49ers overpowered the Washington Redskins in a 45-10 win on Monday night. Young completed 21 of 32 passes and Garrison Hearst rushed for 138 yards and a touchdown as the 49ers collected 504 yards of offence.
In their first two games, San Francisco have scored in every quarter and amassed 1,060 yards - the second-highest total ever from two games. The Buffalo Bills racked up 1,119 yards in their opening two games of the 1991 season.
The 49ers, who have netted 81 points in victories over the Jets and Redskins, scored the final 31 points of the contest as their offence hit on all cylinders.
The 49ers have won every one of their last seven meetings with Washington and lead the all-time series 15-7-1.
