The amateur rider Sarah Lamb was taken to North Tees Hospital in Stockton with concussion and suspected internal injuries after taking a crashing fall from Forever Shy in the novices' chase at Sedgefield yesterday.

The incident happened at the first fence when Forever Shy, trained under permit by Kathleen Lamb, the injured rider's mother, fell heavily and brought down Rapid Fire, the mount of Eddie Callaghan, who was unscathed.

Miss Lamb was knocked unconscious in the fall, but had regained consciousness before she was taken to hospital.
