American Football: Bugel sacked as Cardinals coach
JOE BUGEL was fired as coach of the Phoenix Cardinals yesterday. The Cardinals had won four of their last five games to finish 7-9 but it was not enough to save Bugel.
Bill Bidwell, the Cardinals owner, said at the beginning of the season that Bugel, in his fourth year as coach, needed a winning season or he would lose his job.
June Jones succeeds Jerry Glanville as head coach at Atlanta Falcons, having been their assistant offensive coach for three years. The Falcons ended with a 6-10 record for the second consecutive season.
H Wayne Huizenga, who owns baseball's Florida Marlins and ice hockey's Florida Panthers, has offered to buy the Miami Dolphins. The sale needs the consent of the owners of Joe Robbie Stadium
(Miami's home ground) and the NFL, which has previously prohibited owners from owning other professional sports teams.
