Ato Boldon, who won two sprint bronze medals at the Olympic Games in Atlanta, became the sixth man to break 9.9sec in the 100m. Boldon won the race at Modesto, California in 9.89, five-hundredths of a second off the world record set by Donovan Bailey at the Atlanta Olympics.
