The British Athletic Federation are to set up an international unit aimed at producing success in Olympic and major championships. The unit, which could handle up to 200 leading athletes, would include coaching, competition, team management, selection, medical and scientific support.
Britain's Dean Macey yesterday won a silver medal in the decathlon at the World Junior Championships in Sydney with 7,480 points, 102 behind Hungary's Attila Zsivotzky. Another British medal went to Nathan Morgan, who took the long jump bronze with a leap of 7.74 metres.
