Linford Christie beat a world-class field in the 60 metres but struggled on the tights bends in the 200m and was pipped by Frankie Fredericks in the 200m at the TSB International meeting in Birmingham. Sally Gunnell eased to victory in the 400m, powering off the final bend to beat Canada's Rosie Edeh, but she was over as a second outside her national record. Alison Wyeth produced the second fastest indoor 3,000m in the world this year at the inter-area match.
