RON GANT, the former Atlanta Braves star who was released in March after breaking his leg in a motorcycle accident, has signed a two-year contract with the Cincinnati Reds. The Reds, seeking more right-handed punch in their line-up, hope Gant will be fit to play next month. 'We feel that when Ron is healthy he is capable of hitting 30 homers, driving in 100 runs and stealing 30 bases,' the Reds general manager Jim Bowden said. Gant averaged 29 home runs, 97 RBI and 31 steals in the last four years for the Braves.
