Taiwan surprised Japan with a 79-47 win in the East Asian Games in Pusan, South Korea, yesterday. The victory came a day after a protest by the Taiwanese delegation over an alleged slight regarding the lower status on their identification cards than those of other countries. The Taiwanese had delayed marching into the stadium along with the other participants. Members later refused to wave their arms or face the East Asian Games Association flag as it was being raised.
