SHEFFIELD SHARKS protected the Budweiser League's only unbeaten record with impressive power yesterday, brushing aside the challenge of last season's play-off champions, Birmingham Bullets, by 87-80, writes Richard Taylor.

Despite a strong fourth quarter, the Bullets were never in contention, trailing by seven points at the end of the first quarter, 55-34 at half- time, and 77-55 after the third. Terrell Myers, 20 points, and Travis Conlan, with 19, led their scorers.

Derby Storm trailed 86-80 before beating Thames Valley Tigers 92-88 on Saturday, as Joel Burns and Nate Reinking scored two free throws each to seal the win.

London Towers won their third in a row, pulling away from Edinburgh Rocks for a 94-78 win.
