Andy Holligan will defend his British light-welterweight title against Carl Wright, also from Merseyside, on 15 May at Liverpool's Everton Park Sports Centre. The Frank Warren promotion will also have Peter Culshaw challenging Bury's Adey Lewis for the British flyweight crown.

Paul Ingle, the British featherweight champion, will defend his title against Michael Alldis at the Hull Arena on 28 April. Frank Maloney, Ingle's manager, announced at a press conference in Hull yesterday that he was hoping for a world title fight with Naseem Hamed some time next year, possibly in September.
