Boxing: Bruno aims at Foreman

FOLLOWING the derided dispatch of the 36-year-old Jesse Ferguson, the handlers of Frank Bruno have decided to go on to higher things, if not in class then in age. Bruno, whose credibility, unlike the American, took severe punishment in Birmingham on Wednesday night, could next be trading punches with George Foreman, who at 45 is the pensioner of the heavyweight division.

It is the way of boxing that the 142-second farce involving Bruno, 32, and Ferguson at the National Exhibition Centre will not have affected the bankability of Mickey Duff's man. Duff estimates that Bruno v Foreman, which has a good chance of being staged in England in May and beamed to America for pay-per-view television, could gross between pounds 5.5m- pounds 6.8m.
