Jersey Joe Walcott, the oldest man to reign as world heavyweight champion, died in Camden, New Jersey late on Friday. He was 80. Walcott, who lost a record six heavyweight title fights, finally won the crown on 7 July 1951 with a seventh-round knockout of Ezzard Charles. Walcott, 37 at the time, defended the title a year later, beating Charles again, but he lost the title later in 1952 when knocked out by Rocky Marciano.
