Boxing: No throne for Prince

Boxing

No throne for Prince

Mark Prince could not raise his game enough to wrest the WBO light-heavyweight title from Dariusz Michalczewski in Oberhausen, Germany last night. The Tottenham fighter's challenge ended in the eighth round when he was caught with a left hook that left him flat on his face in the corner of the ring. Prince, beaten for the first time in 19 fights, was stepping up in class to meet the German who has a 37-0 record. After a bright start, Prince began to be caught by the German's sharp jabs, which took their tool, allowing Michalczewski to put together sapping combinations.
