A Ladbrokes customer was left ruing one of the biggest upsets in boxing history following Evander Holyfield's defeat of Mike Tyson.
Ladbrokes said the biggest bet the bookmakers took was pounds 10,000 on Tyson to knock out Holyfield in the first round at 5-1. Holyfield's 11th round stoppage of the World Boxing Association heavyweight champion ensured Ladbrokes a winning night.
A spokesman said: "All of the other favourites on 'Judgement Night' had won and we had thousands of accumulator bets with Tyson as the last leg.
"Our customers obviously thought he was a certainty at 1-20. Going into the fight we were expecting the worst, but after this result we will have made a profit."
