Anthony Joshua is back in the boxing gym ahead of his long-awaited return to the ring.

The former two-time heavyweight champion has not fought since he was knocked out by Daniel Dubois at Wembley 12 months ago.

Joshua underwent elbow surgery earlier this year to further delay his comeback, but he has now shared a clip of himself on the punchbag as he prepares to step back between the ropes.

Alongside the training footage, Joshua posted the message: “Rehab protocol”.

Joshua is expected to fight again in early 2026, with his promoter Eddie Hearn admitting his charge is likely to be in a tune-up bout.

Hearn has ruled out the possibility of Joshua going straight into a mega-fight, revealing that he will look to dust off the cobwebs before a final “roll of the dice” next summer.

Joshua has made it clear who he wants for his next big fight after calling out domestic rival Tyson Fury last week.

Following the launch press conference for Joseph Parker’s clash with Fabio Wardley, Joshua saluted both men for agreeing to the risky fight while also taking aim at Fury.

Joshua wrote on Instagram: “I'm proud of Joe Parker, even though he is a competitor. Real recognises real. He's in the game to fight whoever, whenever and that's the DNA of a real general. Unlike his dippy mate Tyson Fury.

“I would [discredit] his career/record in minutes but I'll leave that for a potential Gloves Are Off if he ever comes back and fights Big Femi [Joshua].

“To my supporters, I'll be back to lace up my boots and put on my gloves sooner than later, hopefully punching Fury's head in and dancing round his flicker jab with ease.”

Fury is also yet to fight in 2025 after retiring in January, but has hinted that he could return next year for a big fight.

And Joshua has now taken a step towards getting back in the ring himself ahead of what promises to be a huge 2026 in the heavyweight division.
