Anthony Joshua agrees two-fight deal to face Tyson Fury, says Eddie Hearn

Josh Taylor will defend his IBF world super lightweight title against Apinun Khongsong on 26 September.

The 29-year-old Scot was originally scheduled to face Khongsong in May but the fight was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

While the original bout was due to take place in Edinburgh, the rescheduled card will see unified champion Taylor come up against his mandatory Thai opponent in a London venue yet to be announced.

Taylor has held the IBF title since his victory over Ivan Baranchyk in May 2019 and also took Commonwealth light-welterweight silver in Glasgow in 2014.

“Josh is a world-class operator and I am delighted that we are playing host to what is an important mandatory defence,” promoter Frank Warren said.

“Josh is doubtless set for many big nights over in the States but he has got business to attend to here first and we are backing him to win, not least because a huge fight with our own Jack Catterall is there to be made a little further down the line.”
